The Sakala Education and Welfare Foundation

The Sakala Education and Welfare Foundation is dedicated to making a significant impact in the Arusha region in Tanzania. Their tireless efforts focus on providing essential support to the most vulnerable children in the community through a combined home and school initiative.

This meaningful project was established in 2003 with a clear purpose: to offer quality education and ensure the best possible living conditions for children living in poverty within their community. The foundation's vision is rooted in the belief that through their work, these students and their families will be inspired to unlock their full potential and gain the educational foundation required to attain social and economic independence.

In recent years, the Sakala Education and Welfare Foundation has achieved significant milestones. They have constructed eight classrooms, with two of them currently serving as temporary dormitories for boys due to the growing number of children benefiting from their program. The school now enrolls 300 students, with more than 200 of them residing within their care. The foundation employs a dedicated team of 18 teachers and 9 support staff members.

Presently, their primary focus is on further enhancing the living conditions for the children they serve. The construction of dormitories and washrooms for boys is urgently needed. Additionally, plans include establishing a proper nursery area for students and constructing a volunteer house within the school grounds. The foundation also aims to contribute to the environment by planting several trees on their campus and enhancing existing school infrastructure, such as toilets and a staff room.

In addition to providing a standard education, the Sakala Village Education and Welfare Foundation actively run a health and education program aimed at addressing critical health and cultural issues within their community. They address issues such as HIV/AIDS and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) to create a safer and healthier environment for their beneficiaries.
